American Board Announces Andrew Campanella

WASHINGTON, DC (January 5, 2005) — The American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence has hired Andrew Campanella as its new director of communications, the organization announced today. Campanella will oversee media relations, public relations, and advertising as a member of the American Board’s marketing and business development team. The American Board’s communications efforts support the organization’s strategic goals of increasing national and state awareness of the rigorous Passport to Teaching^SM teacher certification process.

“We enthusiastically welcome Andrew to our team,” said American Board President Kathleen Madigan. “I am confident that Andrew’s communications experience and hardworking nature will help us successfully spread the word about our certification process.”  Prior to joining the American Board, Campanella served in several public and media relations positions in the tourism industry. Most recently, he was media relations manager for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), where he was instrumental in developing, launching and promoting the association’s first consumer-oriented web site.

“I look forward to using my background in consumer public relations to advance the goals of an organization whose mission is vitally important,”  Campanella said. “Through targeted communications efforts, the American Board will continue to positively impact students’ lives by certifying even more highly qualified teachers.”   In addition to his professional experience, Campanella is active in community service. Currently, he serves on the advisory board of YMCA National Capital DC Youth and Government, an alternative civics education program for the District of Columbia Public Schools. He has volunteered or consulted for more than ten local and state political campaigns in New Jersey, Florida, and Ohio, and is the past president of the Greater Manassas (Virginia) Junior Chamber of Commerce.
