The Honorable Frank Attkisson

Representative Florida House of Representatives Kissimmee, FL

The Honorable Frank C. Attkisson was elected to the State Legislature in 2000 and serves the Counties of Osceola, Orange, Okeechobee and Polk. His duties involve being the Chairman of Education Innovation subcommittee in the House of Representatives, as well as a member of the Education K-20, Education Appropriations, Local Government & Veterans Affairs, Business Regulation, Telecommunications, and the Finance and Tax Committees.

Representative Attkisson’s previous roles as a public servant include being the mayor of Kissimmee from 1996-2000 and the Kissimmee City Commissioner from 1990-1992. In addition, he has served on various boards including the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce, Lynx and Eagle Scout Review Committee. He also spends his time in the community coaching a Little League baseball team.

Through his work in Florida, Representative Attkisson has proved himself to be a strong advocate for business and economic development., Honors such as “Top Pro-Business Voice in Tallahassee” in 2000 by the Florida United Business Association (FUBA) and “Top Freshman Quick Starters” in the House of Representatives in 2001 by the Florida Chamber of Commerce are examples of his appreciated dedication.

Concerned with a broad interest of topics, Representative Attkisson’s legislative work has positively affected many facets of Florida living. During the 2002 legislative session, Representative Attkisson played an active role in defeating the sales tax push in the House and worked to pass Florida’s first growth management bill since 1985. In the 2003 session, he played a vital part in the development of legislation enabling the voter mandated reduction in class size. He also championed the passage of the “Living Wage Bill” that protects businesses from local governments setting minimum wage levels.

Representative Attkisson earned an A.A. from Polk Community College in 1976 and a B.S. in Business Management from Florida Southern College in 1977. He resides in Kissimmee, Florida with his wife and three children. His hobbies include hunting and fishing.
